This program is ideal for individuals involved in distance learning, including instructors teaching at a distance, or those who would like to develop these skills. Students acquire the skills needed to be successful e-teachers and e-learners. The program prepares students to apply the theories, principles, models, tools and techniques associated with e-learning in diverse organizational settings.
Students who complete the e-learning certificate:
- Demonstrate an ability to evaluate the effective use and implementation of e-learning materials.
- Demonstrate an ability to effectively design, develop and implement successful e-learning materials.
- Apply foundational e-learning principles and theories to learning activities in their workplaces.
- Demonstrate their capacity to successfully design, develop and implement e-learning materials.
- All 18 credit hours required for this certificate are offered online. Having created one of the first online graduate programs launched in the United States, the experienced Educational Technology Leadership (ETL) Program faculty and staff ensure flexibility along with meaningful substance and engaging online participation.

Statement of purpose:
In an essay of 250 to 500 words, state your purpose in undertaking graduate study at The George Washington University, describing your academic objectives, research interests, and career plans. Also discuss your related qualifications, including collegiate, professional, and community activities and any other substantial accomplishments not already mentioned in the application.
